The tickets, hotels, you name it is completed, and the vaccines are done. Call me a little paranoid but it never hurts to be prepared.

Don't eat or shop at places that have people outside encouraging you to come inside.
Don't stay with friends of friends.
Don't make large purchases after dark.
Always get the business card of your tour guide.
Don't be caught with less than $50 US on your person.
Don't let the effort of the itinerary exceed the rewards of the sights.
